She lie awake in the middle of the night, strong, warm arms wrapped her, holding her close to the strong body of her fiancé. Her mind was away, thinking of the past, of someone long before him. 'Miroku,' she thought to herself, hugging her fiancé’s strong arms around her, 'I wonder what you're doing now. Kouga too. . . How did I give him up for someone who didn't even love me?'

She was brought back, to reality, when the strong arms tensed around her. They relaxed again, pulling her closer to him, "You ok . . .?" She turned in his arms and nodded, a watery smile on her face. "Thinking of the past again," he made it a statement instead of a question. She nodded again and snuggled into his chest, kissing it gently, "Yeah. . . I'm fine now though. I've got you." She felt him smile in her hair, wrapping her arms around his neck, as she pulled herself up a bit to be level with him, "You mad . . .?" He shook his head and smiled, "No. . . You have a right to think." Her eyes narrowed playfully, "What's that supposed to mean? I didn't before?" He smirked and pulled her face closer to his, "That's right, you were lost without me." She giggled and pressed her lips to his, wrapping her fingers in his long, silvery hair.

She loved his hair. How it felt like silk in her hands. How it shined in the sunlight whenever they were out together. How it always smelled like the woods no matter how often he washed it. How it reminded her of the snow capped mountains in the winter. He was a lot like the mountains, rugged, mysterious, and dangerous, yet beautiful and amazing in every possible way. She loved his eyes, how they would shine in the darkness and gaze at her with something much more than love, something more than words would explain. How they smiled whenever he looked at Rin or Kirara or herself. How they were stern when he was angry, but still soft and understanding. She loved everything about him and he loved her in return.

That's what she loved most about him, the fact that he loved her for every aspect of her being, not just her body. He even loved the small arguments they would have over nothing; he loved her fire and passion for life. He loved everything, not just what he could see on the outside.

He gave a silent growl as little feet pattered into their room, revealing Rin and Kirara at the foot of their bed. Only then did she realize that it was raining quite hard outside. A whip of lightning and the crack of thunder sounded outside and she watched them both jump with fright. Kirara quickly crawled up on the bed next to her and nuzzled her chin, "Meow." Rin crawled up as well, hugging the both of them, "Kirara got scared so I brought her here." She smiled and nodded, "Riiiight." Another crack of lightning and Rin jumped again, "I was scared, too, of course."

Warm laughter bubbled from his chest as Rin crawled into his arms, hugging him tightly. He kissed the top of his head and tucked her in next to him, Kirara curling up at their feet. "Good night daddy . . . good night mommy," she whispered, falling asleep as soon as she was settled.

That was how their first night of engagement went, cuddled up together with their daughter and kitten, hugging them tightly to keep them calm through the stormy weather. Thinking nothing of what would happen the next day, worrying only about what was there and then . . . caring for nothing of the outside world . . . only their peaceful calm after the storm. . .
This is the first Sesshoumaru and Sango fanfiction that I ever wrote. I haven't changed much, there are probably still plenty of mistakes that I haven't caught just yet. Please only constructive criticism, my self-esteem is low enough as it is.
